Valdosta - A South Georgia community is using a little friendly competition to improve the local economy.

The Guardian Bank Business Plan Competition kicks off in Lowndes County next week. Anyone interested in starting their own business can enter the competition, as long as you agree to keep the company in Lowndes County and show potential to employ local college and technical school graduates.

The winner will receive $10,000.00 to help start their business, and various marketing and advertising deals.

"We put our heads together and developed a plan that would help employ our local college graduates and help us retain them here in our community," said Parrish Clark, Organizer.

If you're interested in entering the competition, there will be an interest mixer at Guardian Bank on Wildwood Plantation Drive Tuesday night from 5:00 until 7:00.

All business plans must be submitted by August 25th.
