Cecil-- The premiere short track racing series in the country is coming to South Georgia. The Hooters Pro Cup Series will stop off at the newly constructed South Georgia Motor Sports Park next week for the track's inaugural race.
The half mile oval in Cecil is being touted as one of the finest of it's kind in the country, and today drivers in the Hooters Pro Cup Series got a chance to see for themselves. The inaugural race at the track will take place on Saturday March the 12th, with the green flag dropping at 7pm.
Since the race is scheduled to go 250 laps, drivers will be required to make pit stops for tire changes and refueling. Above that drivers say fans will also get to see some very physical racing.
"If anybody has seen any of these races on Speed Channel they know there's a lot of beating and banging in this series, much more so than NASCAR for the simple fact that there's not as many fines levied here and drivers are more apt to go up and bump somebody. So there's going to be a lot of bumping and banging," Faulk said.
The event will also be televised nationally by the Speed Channel.
