Cairo- Doctor Linda Walden will receive the Jefferson Award in Washington in June.

It's given to local leaders who do extraordinary things without the expectation of recognition or reward. Doctor Walden has founded several organizations in Southwest Georgia, including The Jackie Robinson Cairo Memorial Institute, Grady County Habitat for Humanity, and a medical society. "We were all put on this earth, not only to take from the earth, but to give back. And to make a difference. And it's important to we try to do something to really make the world a better place," says Walden.
