Valdosta - A South Georgia police department gets high marks from a national assessment team.

Three assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies visited the Valdosta Police Department this week for their re-accreditation evaluation.

In an exit review, the assessors praised the department and said they'll recommend them for re-accreditation. "They found no issues with our department, in fact they were very impressed and all three of them commented that this is one of the smoothest on sites or inspections they had been on," said Captain Brian Childress.

The assessors judged the department on 446 different standards.

The department will be up for re-accreditation review in three years.
