Lowndes County-- A body found in a ditch is identified as a suspect in a highway stop last month.

Forty-year-old Vernon Alexander Perry's body was discovered Saturday in a water-filled ditch in southern Lowndes County.

On January 25th, Perry of Decatur was stopped on I-75, police said he had been driving erratically. While officers interviewed his female passenger, Perry fled into the woods.

Police were unable to find him, but they did discover a large amount of cocaine and marijuana in his car. An autopsy is being done to determine the cause of death.
