Albany- Authorities are investigating a fatal fire in South Albany that claimed the life of an eight-month old baby. Albany firefighters received the call a little before 9:30 last night saying a home on Cotton Avenue was on fire and a baby was trapped inside the home.

They could not get there in time to save the baby boy. But six others managed to be get away from the blaze including Lafayette Brown's six-month old daughter.

"That coulda been anybody's child in that house but it was mine though. But God saved her man, I know God is real man, I know he real," says Brown.

There is no word yet on the condition of those who managed to get out of the house or how the fire started.
