The family of a Miller County woman is mourning tonight after GBI investigators say the 58 year old was murdered by her husband, before he took his own life.

Dougherty County-- For about ten minutes this afternoon, faculty and students at Lamar Reese elementary School were under a code red alert.

The school was given the lockdown order, because of the chases close proximity to the area. "We never really know with those things, and we don't practice code reds with an idea that it is just a re-hearsal," said Assistant Principal Vinson Davis.

"We practice them to do them for real, because you never know. We were just on lockdown until given further notice by the Albany Police Department, to go to an all green which was an all clear," Davis siad.

When a code red is signaled, teachers know to lock their doors, turn down their lights, and keep their students quiet. They are not allowed to go into the halls, until the all clear is given.
