Albany - Dougherty County's smartest students are honored. Dougherty County's four public high schools as well as Sherwood, Byne, Deerfield Windsor schools named the "Star Students" for 2005.

Star Students must have the highest SAT scores in their class and be in the top ten percent of their class. The students then pick the teacher that's influenced them the most as their "Star Teacher."

Westover High School's Marsha Kocherla was named the district's top Star Student, scoring a 1560 on the SAT.

"I'm undecided as to where I want to go for undergraduate school,"said Kocherla. "I do plan on becoming a physician and majoring in either biochemistry or chemistry. I plan to also study Latin and Roman history."

Marsha chose her Latin teacher, Jaime Claymore, as her Star Teacher. She hopes to attend Harvard, Emory, or Michigan State.
