Valdosta - Now a former Atlanta Brave, J.D. Drew has spent a good portion of his offseason taking batting practice with younger brother Stephen at the new indoor batting facility at Lowndes High where both were star players for the Viking baseball program.
J.D. Drew wants to be in ready when he reports to spring training with the Los Angeles Dodgers next week in Vero Beach, Florida.
The Hahira native wished he could have stayed in Atlanta where he had his best big league season last year.
But when the Braves did not offer him salary arbitration, Drew had no choice but to look for a new team.
And J.D. believes he will be very happy wearing the Dodger blue where he hopes to win a World Series.
J.D. Drew said "You don't always take the most money. You take always what you feel in your heart is going to work out the best. And L.A. is one of those situations where (manager) Jim Tracy does a great job and they were making alot of new moves as far as the players go and I am excited about the opportunity to try and put a ring on my finger."
The Los Angeles Dodgers pitchers camp starts on Saturday and the first full squad workout is February 25th.
