Macon- Randolph-Clay completes a second straight unbeaten season with a second consecutive state title and the Terrell County Lady Greenwave overcome a slow start to win their first state title in almost 20 years.
In the girls class-A state championship game, Calhoun County jumped out to a 17-4 lead after the first quarter.
The Lady Greenwave, who lost by one point in last year's AA state title game, cut the deficit to eight at halftime and were down only four heading into the fourth quarter.
Senior Tanae Davis, who finished with 26 points in her final game for Terrell County, tied with a jumper midway through the final period and Shankel Allen's three point basket gave the Lady Greenwave the lead for good.
Davis, Allen and freshman Monshay Thomas provided all of Terrell County's 48 points with Thomas scoring 14 and Allen with 8 points.
Calhoun County, who finished third behind Terrell County and Randolph-Clay in Region 2-A, was led in scoring Joe Donna Molden who had 18 points.
The boys class-a title game featured two defending state champions in Randolph-Clay the AA champs in 2004 and the defending class-A state champion Southwest Atlanta Christian Warriors.
The Red Devils, who finish the season with a 61 game winning streak, jumped out to an ealry lead in the fourth quarter.
Randolph-Clay though watched SACA's Jarvis Crittenton bring the Warriors to within one point of the Red Devil lead in the second quarter as Crittenton scored a game high 29 points.
The Red Devils, who led by only eight points at half, built a 15 point lead late in the third quarter and then held off a run by the Warriors early in the fourth quarter.
Senior Shamaine Dukes scored 19 points in his final high school game and junior Cornelius Price finished with 17.
The Red Devils had five players in double figures with junior Rashadd Lewis scoring 15 points, senior Lancie Cannon had 14 and freshman Dexter Ellington came off the Randolph-Clay bench to score 10 points.
