Local wrestlers win state titles

Undated - The traditional state wrestling tournaments held across the state this weekend and five area wrestlers winning state titles.

 The Valdosta Wildcats have two state championship in Paul Bess at 171 pounds and Jamal Scott at 189 pounds.  It is the second straight state title for Jamal Scott.

In AAAA, Bainbridge's Trey Benton finishes second place at the 189 pounds.

Crisp County's Merritt Williams wins the 215 AAA state title and Ricory Green from Westover finished third.

In AA, Matthew Edmondson from Cook High wins the 189 pound classification.

Turner County's Clint Cawley is the state champion at 145 pounds in Class-A.

Pelham High had seven wrestlers place in the meet to finish fourth in the team standings. Kyle Cox and Junior Robertson posted third place finishes in their respective weight classifications for the Hornets.
