JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) _ Deion Branch and Tom Brady were a productive tandem for the New England Patriots in a 24-to-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 39.
Branch tied a Super Bowl record with eleven receptions for 133 yards to help the Patriots win the Super Bowl for the third time in four years. He came away with the MVP award, one year after Brady copped the honor.
Branch had receptions of 27, 16 and 21 yards on a drive that ended with Mike Vrabel's two-yard T-D catch. He was the prime target of Brady, who was 23-of-33 for 236 yards and two touchdowns.
Branch also was superb in the Patriots' 41-to-27 win at Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship two weeks ago. Branch grabbed two touchdown passes against the Steelers, including a 60-yard bomb from Brady.
