Tifton-- A big honor for a popular South Georgia band director. Eugene Wyles is now a member of the Georgia Band Director's Hall of Fame. Wyles began conducting in Worth County 45 years ago, and now he's the band director at ABAC.

Wyles says he was surprised when found out he would be the honored by the Georgia Music Educators Association as a hall of famer. "I feel an awesome responsibility now to kind of live up to these men and what they did. It's a thrill that's the best way I can explain it," says Eugene Wyles.

Only five conductors have earned a spot in the hall of fame since 1987. Wyles' says he got his start in music from watching his grandparents play music.
