Albany - The search for a new Albany city manager begins Tuesday. City commissioners are expected to hire a head-hunting firm to conduct the search for a new city manager.
They've narrowed the list to two Atlanta based firms; Slavin Management and Mercer Group. Slavin has a slight advantage because the firm is also leading the police chief and assistant city manager searches. "It's very critical that we have a professional search. We have to do background checks and other steps that a professional firm can do better than a group of citizens," said Mayor Willie Adams.
The search could take up to three months. The new city manager will then help hire a new police chief and assistant city manager. Water, Gas & Light general manager Lem Edwards is interim city manager.
