Singletary moving to North Georgia

January 26, 2005

Moultrie - Former Colquitt County head coach Mike Singletary is moving to North Georgia.

Singletary has been named head coach and athletic director at Sonoraville High in Gordon County.

Mike Singletary is leaving Moultrie after working for 17 years as an assistant and head coach at Colquitt County.

He stepped down after five seasons as the Packer head coach in November.

Sonoraville High School will open in August and will play a junior varsity schedule in the primary sports next year before moving to the varsity level in Region 6-A in two years

. The challenge to start a high school football program and the fact he will also serve as athletic director are just two of the reasons why Mike Singletary is looking forward to his new job.

Last week, Tim Cokely, from North Florida Christian in Tallahassee was named head coach at Colquitt County.
