Packers hire head coach

January 18, 2005

Moultrie - The search for a new head football coach at Colquitt County High School has ended.

North Florida Christian head coach Tim Cokely was unanimously approved Tuesday afternoon by the Colquitt County Board of Education.

After a short executive session, the school board hired Cokely to serve as head football coach, director of football operations and and to teach social studies at Colquitt County High School.

Cokely comes to Moultrie from Tallahassee where he won 107 games at North Florida Christian High School in ten seasons and won five states titles in a span of six years.

From Tallahassee, Tim Cokely has kept a close on eye on high school football in south Georgia and knows the competitiveness of Region 1-AAAAA.

And he is ready for the challenge to get the Packer program back to the top of the region and the state.

Tim Cokely said "I can't even tell you how excited I am. To me this is the pinnacle of high school football. South Georgia, AAAAA, compete in the toughest region in the state and you get to play on a Friday night when it is the game in town. And you get to do with our heads held high and with alot of honor and alot of dignity."

Tim Cokely succeeds Mike Singletary who stepped down in November after five seasons.
