Douglas - Former PGA tour member Lyn Lott of Douglas will be inducted into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame Saturday night in Augusta.
One of the top junior golfers in the state in the 1960s, Lyn Lott earned a golf scholarship at the University of Georgia and was a member of four Southeastern Conference championship teams.
He earned his PGA tour card in 1974 and though he never won a tournament, Lyn Lott did post several runner-up finishes including finishing in the top ten three times at the U.S. Open.
Lyn Lott left the tour twenty years ago and returned to his hometown of Douglas where he is now in the real estate development business.
He says it is real honor to be included in a Hall of Fame that includes Bobby Jones, Albany's Nancy Lopez, Tommy Aaron and Larry Nelson- two good friends from his playing days on the PGA tour.
Lyn Lott said "It is just a tremendous honor. It is one that I never expected, never dreamed about. Here I am and I am just very flattered, thankful and appreciative."
Lyn Lott was inducted into the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 1998.
The other members going into the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame this year are former Columbus Country Club professional Charlie Harper and David Boyd.
