Double murder ends in suicide

January 7, 2004

Valdosta - A South Georgia man shoots and kills his wife and her daughter, then kills himself.

Police responded to a home on Tyndall Drive after getting a 9-1-1 hang up call around 7 Friday morning. They found 40-year-old Tammy Jones and her daughter, 18-year-old Tasha Miley, shot to death.

Just a short while later, police responded to a shooting on Mable Road. They found Jones' husband, Marvin, dead in his car. He had committed suicide.

"We had witnesses that indicated they saw Mr. Jones leave the residence around 7:00 this morning, so we had a pretty good idea initially of who might have done this," said Capt. Brian Childress.

Police say Marvin and Tammy Jones were separated and and had filed for divorce.
