Dougherty County - A woman fell asleep at the wheel on the Liberty Expressway Wednesday afternoon.

Her car crossed the median into oncoming traffic, but amazingly, she didn't crash into anyone else.

Vicki Giet of Leesburg was headed north near the Dougherty/Mitchell line this morning when she dozed off.

She crossed into southbound lanes then ran off the road and hit some trees. She was not seriously injured.

Giet is charged with driving too fast for conditions and failure to maintain a lane. Giet was driving in a work zone.
