Dougherty County- "I can't believe it. It's the most astounding thing I think has ever happened," says Jean Buckhalter. "This is going to be great. This is the most wonderful Christmas present."
As soon as the sun came up, a group of employees from Masterfoods began building a new roof for Jean Buckhalter's Ramsey Road home.
"There was a lot of damage to the roof from the previous fire inside the house that the residents didn't know about. The roof had deteriorated to a state that all they could do is put tarps and plastic sheeting on top of it," says one of the volunteers Ray Humphrey.
Buckhalter and her husband had lived with a leaky, unfit roof for nearly a decade. Now thanks to the kindness of Masterfoods workers her days living under plastic sheeting are over.
"It's just a blessing to be able to help people, and that's what we're out here to do," says Humphrey.
Masterfoods employees not only volunteered their time to repair the roof, but they also raised enough donations to cover the cost of all the materials to complete the job.
