Albany -- A national magazine calls two Albany medical professionals "heroic whistle blowers." Money Magazine is honoring the men who forced Phoebe Putney hospital's billing practices to the public eye.
"Money" named Dr. John Bagnato and Charles Rehberg two of 12 "Class Acts of 2004."
The magazine honored them for exposing what they say is a national problem of unfair billing practices of the uninsured by non-profit hospitals. Dr. Bagnato said "It certainly is gratifying, after all the negative things that were said about me and Charles Rehberg by Phoebe, to have an outside organization validate that we are not as bad as they made us out to be."
Bagnato and Rehberg are honored in the January issue of Money Magazine which will be on the newsstands later this week.
