Alapaha - A South Georgia Mayor is caught hunting illegally.
Alapaha Mayor Joel Dixon was caught and ticketed Saturday evening for duck hunting after hours.
Two Department of Natural Resources rangers heard gunshots and tracked them to a piece of land off Wycliff Roberts Road just north of Alapaha.
The landowner told them eight people, including Dixon, were hunting.
Six of them were ticketed. Two juveniles were not charged.
