Lightning starts house fire

December 10, 2004

Albany - Lightning caused major damage to a northwest Albany home Thursday night. Around midnight, lightning struck the roof of Mark Shernisky's house on Dover Lane. The flames spread through the attic quickly, and it took firefighters three hours to put out the blaze.

Shernisky wasn't home when the fires started, but two teenage boys were. They both safely escaped. The flames, smoke, and water caused more than $50,000 in damage.
