WALB food drive nets 1,800 pounds

December 10, 2004

Albany- Every day this week the WALB-TV Pinpoint Weather van was parked at a different business in Albany, and viewers stopped by to fill it with non-perishable food items.

Friday, the food was delivered to the Salvation Army which will distribute it to needy families.

"We give them enough food for a week instead of just one meal, so it takes a lot of food, around 30,000 pounds," says Commanding Officer Major James Amburgey.

With the help of WALB viewers, the Salvation Army will feed more than 2,000 families this holiday season.
