Albany - Some South Georgia students turn hard earned coins into checks.

Albany Middle School students presented checks worth $125 each to four organizations.

They chose to share their profits with the Salvation Army, Albany Civil Rights Museum, SOWEGA Council on Aging and the American Cancer Society. Seventh Grader, Ashley Hicks, says, "It makes me feel good that I can give back to the community and different people and help them."

The students started collecting the money in August. They raised more than $700.
