Thomasville - Garrison Pilcher is a 2005 Title I Distinguished School for making Adequate Yearly Progress for six consecutive years. Principal Judy Dorris says the hard work of teachers and parents, and of course, students, is why the school received the honor.

She says, "We've had a lot of parent cooperation and a lot of system cooperation in getting the kids here to school and that's one of the indicators we've had to work hard on."

In addition to the recognition, Garrison Pilcher will receive a monetary award of more than $15,000.
