Valdosta - Using plastic to pay for tuition is a thing of the past at some Georgia colleges.
Emory University no longer accepts credit cards for tuition, fees, or meal plans, and beginning December 20th, Georgia Tech will no longer accept plastic. The college says this should save about one million dollars a year in credit card charges.
Valdosta State University accepts Visa, Master Card and Discover and has no plans to discontinue its credit card service.
"I think if they did cancel the service it would have a big effect on students because most of us don't have that kind of cash just directly in our checking accounts and it would be a big issue," said Casey Plymel.
About 25 percent of V.S.U. students pay for tuition with credit cards.
