Albany - Dougherty County commissioners want answers from the school board on money problems in the school lunch program. Poor accounting in the department that oversees the Dougherty County School System's reduced and free lunch program led to a budget shortfall of $3.9-million.
Monday, commissioner Jack Stone said his constituents deserve to know how the costly mistake happened and what's being done to make sure it doesn't happen again. "This is a bad situation. The people of Dougherty County pay taxes, and I do too. I want to know what's going on and where the money is at," said Stone.
The school board suspended the department director for four weeks without pay because of the mistakes.
