Undated-- A Cairo woman is killed Friday morning when her truck hit a tree.

Forty-four-year-old Sherry Owens was killed when she apparently failed to stop at Old Newton Road and Highway 111, north of Cairo. Troopers said her Mazda pickup hit a pine tree about 5:20AM. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Authorities are investigating a fiery crash near Attapulgus involving a semi truck and a car that killed Thirty-four-year-old James Edward Bryan, Junior of Bainbridge.

The truck collided with a car on Highway 27 south of Attapulgus between 9:30 and 10:00 Thursday night. Troopers say the driver of the car, 25-year-old Jeffrey Brent Davis of Calvary, is badly burned from the waist down. He was taken to a Gainesville Hospital.

Another tractor-trailer wreck occurred Thursday night on Highway 262 south of Climax. The driver, 52-year-old Robert Sanders, Junior, of Montgomery, was charged with driving under the influence.

Apparently he took a turn too fast and flipped his semi on its side. Sanders was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.
