Savage wins Player of the year

December 3, 2004

Westover defensive back Aairon Savage is the winner of the Orthopaedic Associates/the Spine and Brain Center Defensive Player of the Year Award, which was presented by Dr. Tim Darden

Savage, who will sign with Auburn University in February, was one of the leading tacklers on the Westover defense where he had two interceptions and knocked down a few more passes thrown in his direction.

Savage's numbers would have been higher but for some reason, opposing teams didn't real like to throw or run the football in his direction.

Savage said, "It is kind of frustrating but you have to stay on your toes because teams are going to throw at you even if you are good. So, you are just going to have to stay ready.

Next Thursday, we will present our offensive player of the year award.
