Mentor a child

December 2, 2004

Thomasville - Thomas University is offering an opportunity for professionals to mentor children through Project Excel. On Thursday, more than 30 men and women signed up to become mentors. They will be interviewed, then matched with a child whom they will spend at least 30 minutes a week with.

Future mentor John Blackman says, "It caters to the needs that they have now, and also it gives the community a chance to be proactive, with needs that have not been fulfilled with some children."

Another information session will be held at Thomas University for others interested in becoming mentors. The program starts at 10 AM Friday.
