Coach on the job after DUI arrest

November 30, 2004

Sylvester-- A Worth County middle school coach charged with DUI remains on the job. School officials say Coach Kenneth Holland was at work Tuesday. He was arrested earlier this month during a road block in Dougherty County.

Superintendent Gary Russell says an investigation was conducted and the school board will take action during their December 8th meeting.

Now, some parents and grandparents are speaking out. "If he was on his own time I feel that he's free to do whatever he wants to I don't think he should be punished for that. If he was on the job doing it then you could see he should be, but otherwise he shouldn't be," says grandparent John Harris.

On the same night Holland was arrested, Westover High school head football coach Jeff Caldwell was also charged with DUI and having an open container. He was suspended without pay for five days.
