Albany - Darton College recognized a true friend to education. Tuesday afternoon, 71 year-old J. Lamar Reese was honored as the 2004 Outstanding Friend of Darton College.
Reese is a long time trustee of the Darton Foundation and a 16 year member of the Dougherty County School Board.
"I think it's important to help Darton College," said honoree Lamar Reese. "I did not go here, but I have many friends who's children went here and one day my own grandchildren may come here. I want a strong college in my community, a two year college."
Darton also honored five southwest Georgia women as "Women of Worth." Verna Hambley, Melvenia Loving, Judge Nancy Stephenson, and Dr. Sally Whatley were thanked for their work to make this area better.
