Pavo - Police say around 6:30 Monday morning, the manager of Dollar General in Pavo was opening the front door when Willie John Smith walked up to the manager, pointed a gun at her and demanded money. She screamed and Smith ran away, but was identified and arrested.
Lt. Tim Watkins says, "Went across the street to an abandoned house and found the gun laying in the yard. Took him down to the Sheriff's office, interviewed him and he admitted to trying to rob the store."
In addition to being charged with intent to commit armed robbery, Smith has also been charged with aggravated assault and kidnapping.
