Soldier home for holidays

November 25, 2004

Albany - The soldiers who spent Thanksgiving in Iraq last year are thankful for being home.

In April, we captured the emotional homecoming of Albany soldier Corporal Ron Simmons. His five-year-old son, Darion, couldn't wait for his father to return from Iraq. Today, the father and son spent the holiday together.

This is the first Thanksgiving in four years the family was together. Ron Simmons says, "It's really good to be home, that's pretty much the big thing is being home with family."

Simmons got out of the military two weeks ago, but is on inactive reserve.

Since his return, he got married to Nikki who was also in the military.
