Deputies return to work after arrest

November 22, 2004

Sylvester- The two Worth County deputies arrested in a knife-wielding brawl returned to work today, and Sheriff Freddie Tompkins says they'll remain at the department until their guilt or innocence is decided.

Deputy Leonard Davis and Chief Deputy Bobby Sapp were arrested when they got into a fight with James Bush at a Dougherty County bar.

Tompkins says Davis had to receive 20 stitches after he was cut in the arm and side. He says both deputies were just trying to be good samaritans when they tried to break up what they thought was a fight between Bush's disabled roommate and a friend.
