Man injured in afternoon wreck

Albany- An Albany man is in serious condition after a slamming his truck into a tree Saturday afternoon.

Albany Police haven't identified the man yet, but they say he was headed west on Schley Avenue around one o'clock.

Officers say he may have been trying to avoid a parked vehicle when he ran off the left side of the road and side-swiped a pecan tree.

The man wasn't wearing a seatbelt and was transported to the hospital for a serious head injury. He has not yet been charged.

    An Albany nonprofit is working to address underage drinking.  South Georgia Starz Academy has gotten a mental block grant, through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration or SAMHSA.
