Valdosta man's death ruled accidental

November 18, 2004

Lowndes County - A South Georgia man found dead in a cotton seed bay died of asphyxiation.

Employees at Western Hay Company found 22-year-old Rene Ramirez under a mound of cotton seed Tuesday afternoon. His family reported him missing on Sunday when he never returned home from work at Western Hay.

Investigators think he may have been taking a nap in the bay and smothered in the cotton seed.

His death has been ruled accidental.
