Albany-- The trial of a South Georgia preacher accused of rape is put off until the new year.
Thirty-three-year-old Charles Luke, Jr. is charged with raping and sodomizing a 30-year-old Albany woman he knew, just hours after preaching at the First African Baptist Church in Sylvester.
Luke's trial was set to begin Tuesday, but prosecutors were granted a continuance after learning new information that is not being released right now. The trial was moved to January.
Luke was arrested at his Dougherty County home and charged with rape, aggravated sexual battery, and sodomy in October, 2002.
