Emma Bush Jones Moore, 68, of Albany died Thursday at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital following an illness.
Her funeral service will be 11 AM Monday at Palmyra Road United Methodist Church and the interment will be 2 PM at Notchaway Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton. Rev. Cathy Green and Rev. Allen Brooks will officiate.
A native of Miller County, Mrs. Moore has lived in Albany since 1964. She was an active member of Palmyra Road United Methodist Church for more than 40 years, serving as a Sunday school teacher of the United Class, member of the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, the Church Administrative Board, United Methodist Youth Fellowship, as member and past President of United Methodist Women and the Wesley Ann Circle, and served / supported her church in all administrative and social endeavors. Upon graduation of Valdosta State College she became a school teacher for more than 38 years in Miller and Dougherty Counties and Terrell Academy, retiring in 2000 but continued substitute teaching until a few weeks ago. Her love for her family and her God was felt by all her knew her and the same love was bestowed back by her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Laverne and B. A. Jones Sr. Survivors include her husband of 45 years Emory Carroll Moore of Albany, 2 daughters; Melanie Moore Jackson (Edwin) of McDonough, Georgia and Melissa Moore-Williams (Steve) of Albany, 2 grandchildren; Teasie and Steven Williams and a step- granddaughter Kristi Williams, a brother B. A. Jones of Colquitt, Georgia, and a sister Ernestine Jones Heard of Colquitt,Georgia.
