Albany - While everyone on the Albany State campus is talking about the second ranked Golden Ram football team, the Lady Ram volleyball team is also having another banner year.
Albany State is hosting the SIAC volleyball touranment where the Lady Rams are going after a 4th straight conference crown.
The Lady Rams started the tournament today with a 3-0 sweep of Clark Atlanta.
The Lady Rams are hoping to be presented with the conference championship trophy in a couple of days, Wednesday night they were presented with their trophy for winning the SIAC's eastern division title.
It was also a big night for senior outside hitter Janel Herring.
The senior from Tallahassee won the SIAC's most valuable player award for the second time in the last three years. Herring also was named offensive player of the year for the second year in a row and was a first team all-conference selection.
Eshovo Amune was named to the SIAC's second team as was setter Amber Davis.
The Lady Rams play Fort Valley State at 11:00 Thursday and if they win that match are back on the court at 3:00pm.
The SIAC tournament championship match is Friday at 3:00pm at the HPER gym.
