Power pole snapped by truck

November 8, 2004

Albany -- A truck hauling a backhoe tore down a power line in Downtown Albany.

Around 10:30 Monday morning a Boyd Brothers Construction Company truck, hauling the backhoe on a trailer, hit a power line at North Jackson and West Roosevelt and the pole snapped.

Traffic signs attached to another line also were pulled down, along with limbs off an oak tree blocked North Jackson.

Firefighters and police blocked the intersection, and re-routed traffic around the block.

Water Gas and Light crews repaired the downed line. None of the surrounding buildings reported any power outages.
