Carrollton--The Valdosta State Blazers got a 35-12 win against West Georgia Saturday night to close out the regular season with a nine game win streak, and then they got a little help.
Central Arkansas' 38-31 win over previously unbeaten Arkansas Tech gave VSU their fifth Gulf South Conference title. It's the Blazers first title since the 2002 season.
VSU (9-1, 9-0) locks up the second seed in the Southeast Rankings and will get a first round bye when the Division II playoffs begin next Saturday.
Moultrie native Tyran Robinson was a big reason for the Blazers success Saturday night against the Braves. The former Colquitt County star finished with 136 yards and two touchdowns. The Blazers ran up 506 yards of total offense, 246 coming from the arm of senior quarterback Fabian Walker.
