In August, the city restructed the department. The chief was moved into a new position as assitant to the city manager. Recently defeated Worth County Sheriff Candidate Tony Strenth became the Interim Chief.

"Now, Strenth could be in line to lead the department permenatly.  It is open to anyone who wants to apply and someone who is qualified and certianly if Chief Strenth wanted to apply he would be welcomed, like anybody else," says City Manager  Danny Lucas.

So far, Lucas say he has recieved more than 13 applications for the chief's position.
