Albany- Caring for a terminally ill loved one is challenging, and no one can do it alone.
That's why Albany Community Hospice wants you to know about their services. They held an open house today as part of National Hospice Month.
Hospice teams include nurses, social workers and volunteers who spend time with the patients.
"At other times, maybe the family might need me for something," said Bruce Otruba, who has been volunteering for almost 10 years. "I might be somewhere where the caretaker can vent. Give someone else for them to talk to and everything's kept confidential."
Hospice is a covered benefit under Medicare, Medicaid and most insurance companies.
