Albany- Workers and volunteers with the Albany Advocacy Resource Center make it possible for people with disabilities to live more independently.

Albany ARC is dealing with budget cuts. Thursday night, the state commissioner for the Department of Human Resources said hopefully state budget cuts will make the government more efficient, so eventually there will be more money for organizations like ARC.

"Who really need to be supported in community environments instead of living in institutions and being confined to hospitals," said Commissioner B.J. Walker.

Many people received awards at the ARC dinner. Joseph Earl Paul was recognized at Male of the Year and Karen Middlebrooks was awarded Female of the Year.
