Gang fight possible cause of fair stabbing

November 4, 2004

Albany- There was violence at Albany's Exchange Club Fair Thursday night.

Police are investigating what they think was a gang-related fight.

About  10 p.m., what police described as a big fight broke out near the Ferris wheel at the fair. A couple of smaller fights then broke out. There were a few minor injuries.

One young woman suffered what apparently was a serious stab wound to her arm. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital at close to 11 p.m.

Extra police units stayed at the fairgrounds late into the night. They were ordered to stand by to make sure people left the fair peacefully.

At this time we don't know of any arrests.
