Golfers tee off for United Way

November 4, 2004

Lowndes County - South Georgia golfers are teeing up for a good cause.

The Valdosta-Lowndes YMCA hosted its annual charity golf tournament at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club Thursday. Thirty-five teams competed to raise money for the United Way.

"We work hand in hand with the United Way and we're trying to show our support this year and give the money back to the United Way so they can help everybody," said John Davis, YMCA Board President.

Atlanta Braves outfielder J.D. Drew came home to Lowndes County to take part in the tournament.

The United Way is a little over half-way to meeting their 1.2 million dollar campaign goal.
