Albany -- Store clerks in Dougherty County, at least some of them, are finally getting it. Fewer of them are selling alcohol to underage customers.

Police checked out 34 stores Saturday night, and only seven of them sold to people under 21.

Dougherty County District Attorney Ken Hodges said drug agents diligence in the checks is paying off. "They stay on this, in going out there. And I think that's it. People know that this is coming on a multiple occasion. This is not something we are going to do one or two times and then quit."

The bad news is that all seven stores that sold to underage buyers are repeat offenders. It was the third offense for the Mini Mart on Stuart Avenue, the 4th offense for the Express Lane on Sylvester Road.

The clerks will be arrested and the stores face license suspension or revocation.
