Valdosta- Valdosta State kicker Will Rhody set an NCAA record in the Blazers win over Southern Arkansas.
The senior from Jupiter, Florida kicked a 37-yard field goal in the first quarter, his 18th straight field goal this season.
That breaks the record of 17 straight that was first set in the 199601997 seasons and was tied last year.
Will Rhody has not missed a field goal attempt this season and leads the Gulf South Conference in scoring with 85 points.
Valdosta State can win a share of the Gulf South Conference title with a win Saturday night at West Georgia in the Peach Basket Classic.
If Central Arkansas beats Arkansas Tech and Valdosta State beats West Georgia, the Blazers would be the sole champions of the Gulf South Conference.
